CIS welcomes students into a learning community built on academic ambition, personal growth, and international-mindedness. This page is designed to help families move through the admissions process more easily by organizing the full policy into clear sections.
As an IB World School, CIS admits learners from diverse cultural, social, and academic backgrounds into the MYP, DP, and BTEC pathways. Students participate in both academic and co-curricular life, with attention given to wellbeing, service, and long-term success.
Admissions normally run from May to August for the September intake.
CIS follows an open admissions approach for diverse learners and backgrounds.
Applicants are contacted within five working days after submitting required details.
CIS offers equal opportunity to learners from different racial, social, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Admission decisions are supported by prior school records and health information needed for a smooth transition into school life.
Applicants must demonstrate readiness for the academic level to which they are applying. Each student completes an assessment designed to evaluate preparedness in key subject areas.
The assessment covers:
Mathematics, English, Science, and French.
Results from these assessments are used to determine eligibility for entry into the programme and help ensure that admitted students are prepared to engage fully with the curriculum.
CIS actively fosters the ten attributes of the IB Learner Profile across teaching, learning, and school life so that every student develops the values, skills, and dispositions needed for success in the IB continuum and beyond.
For each International Baccalaureate programme, a personal laptop or tablet is required to support coursework, research, online examinations, and digital collaboration.
Minimum laptop expectations:
Admission into MYP 5 requires successful completion of MYP 4 or an equivalent programme of study. Students who have not completed MYP 4, or whose prior preparation does not meet the expected standards, will be placed in MYP 4 first.
English is the language of instruction for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), the IB Diploma Programme (DP), and BTEC qualifications at CIS. The school also provides an English Language Support Programme (ELP) to help students from different linguistic backgrounds strengthen proficiency. French is taught across the curriculum to build bilingual competence and intercultural understanding.

Newly admitted students participate in an orientation programme organized by the Office of the Coordinator. This begins one week before the new academic year opens and helps students settle into the school environment before classes start.
